PRODUCTION

Clubdeal has now put into production the project Rouge-Brèsil based on the novel by Jean Christophe Ruffin which won the prestigious Prix Goncourt in 2001. This project will be produced in association with Cláudio Kahns and Yoel Dar of
TATU FILMES.

Clubdeal Limited was created in 1997 by veteran producer Pierre Spengler. It is currently producing or co-producing Danny the Dog, a 35 million dollar production currently shooting in France and the UK and starring Jet Li and Morgan Freeman, Stratosphere Girl currently in postproduction under the direction of MX Oberg and Summer in the Golden Valley the directorial debut of Srdjan Vuletic.

Clubdeal has also been involved in the production of SNAPSHOTS aka THE HERMIT OF AMSTERDAM. The film was produced in 2000/2001 by Pierre Spengler and directed by Rudolf van den Berg; Snapshots is a romantic comedy shot in English and starring Burt Reynolds, Julie Christie, Carmen Chaplin and luminaries from the Dutch stage and film scene such as Angela Groothuizen, Pierre Bokma and Kees Hulst.

As a producer, Pierre Spengler has been involved in numerous major projects such as the first three SUPERMAN films, Richard Lesters MUSKETEER Trilogy and Emir Kusturicas UNDERGROUND which won the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. Pierre Spengler is dealing with all production aspects of the projects, starting with a close involvement with the writers, he monitors the scheduling and budgeting of the projects, arranges the financing, supervises the casting, the principal photography and the editing on all projects and ensures their timely delivery to the distributors.

Clubdeal’s policy since its foundation is to produce feature films in the English language primarily for theatrical distribution in the international market place.

Concurrently with the production of SNAPSHOTS, Clubdeal started the development of TRIPTYCH written and to be directed by cult figure Alejandro JODOROWSKY;

To preserve its independence CLUBDEAL has chosen not to rely on an affiliation with either a major company or a broadcaster. The advantage is of course freedom of choice and artistic integrity of the projects. The involvement of the chosen talent is not due to a commercial diktat but solely as to what is good artistically for the project. CLUBDEAL has, so far, developed its current slate through its own resources including the enthusiastic support of private investors. However to be able to further develop its ambitious program, CLUBDEAL will now need to apply for additional outside help such as equity investment. In the future, as the income from the productions starts to flow, CLUBDEAL will set aside a portion of receipts to fund its continuing development program.

By keeping a very controlled budget for its overhead, CLUBDEAL is able to maintain a healthy financial position and therefore would apply any funds received from the Media program directly in to the development expenses of the projects.

CLUBDEALs productions are aimed at the world wide market. Therefore the sales companies or distributors CLUBDEAL seek alliances with are and shall be well established international companies with strong relationships in the main territories.

For the co-production of Rouge Brésil the main countries we are and will be involved with are: England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Brazil. This list is not exhaustive but CLUBDEALs co-production partners are mainly based in Europe and the choice of working with one or the other is closely linked with the projects themselves. The projects by their subject matters will involve certain countries and not others and therefore influence our co-production policy.

In the case of ROUGE BRÈSIL,
TATU FILMES will be involved as Brazilian co-producer. The services of a Portuguese co-producer may also be envolved.
