Pierre Spengler started in the industry in 1964 on the film PARIS SECRET and went on working as an assistant director, assistant editor and a production assistant on such major films as THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT (1968), LE MANS (1969) and THE LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD (1970).

He went on to production responsibilities within the Salkind Organisation and soon was in charge of producing all of their films including such international successes as THE THREE MUSKETEERS, THE FOUR MUSKETEERS, SUPERMAN I, SUPERMAN II, SUPERMAN III and SANTA CLAUS.

From 1986, he has been independent and was involved in such major motion pictures as THE RETURN OF THE MUSKETEERS and UNDERGROUND (Golden Palm in Cannes 1995).
As a producer Pierre Spengler has been directly responsible for all stages of preparation, production and post-production. He collaborates closely with directors and writers in the preparation of scripts and personally supervises the schedules and budgets with each head of department. Present throughout production on the set and editing, he ensures the progress of the projects until delivery to the principal distributors.

He has concluded numerous contracts for the employment of writers, directors and actors, negotiating with internationally respected talent agencies including Creative Artist Agency, International Creative Management, William Morris, London Management, Artmedia, etc., with specialist lawyers like Bertram Fields, Barry Hirsch, Jake Bloom, Skip Brittenham, Michael Simkins, and firms such as Denton Hall and Burgin, S.J. Berwin, etc. He is on excellent personal terms with all of them.

He has also been responsible for production contracts with studios and personnel in the countries where the films were being shot namely England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, U.S.A., Canada, Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.

In post production, he has negotiated contracts with music publishers and composers (John Williams, Michael Legrand, Ennio Morricone, Lalo Schiffrin, Maurice Jarre, Henry Mancini, Jean Claude Petit, Goran Bregovic, etc.)

He has also developed an expertise in European co-productions negotiating and preparing the often complex documentation required. He has been involved in bipartite co-productions (France/England), tripartite (England/France/Spain - France/Germany/Hungary - France/Italy/Germany) and quadripartite (France/Italy/Germany/Spain). He has also dealt successfully with the Completion Bond Company and Film Finances Ltd. for the issuance of completion guarantees when required and was actively involved in preparing the necessary documentation for the obtaining of subsidies such as Eurimages and Film Fonds Hamburg.

In addition to his Producer’s activities, Pierre Spengler has been active as a Risk Manager on Contingent Loss of Revenue Insurance Policies, representing companies like AXA Re, Royal and Sun Alliance, Lexington, Kemper Re, etc.
